BIOGRAPHY
Hi, my name is David, I’m a creative; a musician and a poet. Originally from Nigeria, I moved here in 2010 for further studies and have settled in the beautiful city of Cardiff ever since. I have put out music under the name “David Adonis”, I have put out poetry in a notepad on my computer, for now.

In 2020 I started a company called Treble Media with two goals in mind: put out high quality visuals and to tell inspiring stories from unsung heroes in the community. I wanted better representation for Nigerian and Black people, I wanted more recognition for my peers and my heroes. I wanted the world to understand why I was proud to be Nigerian, proud to be black, proud to live in Wales. I have learnt a lot about videography (so… I could do you a pretty sick video. You know, if you were wondering) but have really wanted to understand other aspects of media.

This project gives me an opportunity to expand my knowledge in other topics of interest like Photography for example. Through my sessions with Glen I have already learned so much. Grateful to BE.XCELLENCE for this opportunity to unlock new levels of creativity, I look forward to seeing what I can come up with across the various aspects of this project.

About My Visual Voice
%20(120%20x%2060%20mm)-3.png)
For the I Am Wales campaign, I focused on two critical issues: knife crime and men's mental health. My mental health campaign, titled "I AM NOT OKAY", featured the word "NOT" crossed out to symbolize how men often feel pressured to put on a brave face. In many cultures, expressing emotions is seen as a weakness, and men are taught to be strong, resilient, and silent in the face of hardship.
However, this suppression takes a severe toll on mental health. This campaign aims to shine a light on these struggles and open healthy conversations about men's mental health. The consequences of neglecting mental well-being are severe, leading to male-on-male violence, male-on-female violence, substance abuse, homelessness, crime, sexual irresponsibility, and suicide.
The statistics paint a stark picture. In Wales, suicide is the leading cause of death among men under 50, with three-quarters of all suicides being male. Across the UK, men are three times more likely to die by suicide than women. Globally, over 700,000 people take their own lives each year, with men making up nearly 75% of those deaths.By addressing these issues openly, this campaign seeks to break the stigma, encourage men to seek help without shame, and promote healthier coping mechanisms, ensuring that no one suffers in silence.

As part of the I Am Wales project, we had the opportunity to host a live radio broadcast on Radio Cardiff. This was aimed at complementing our visual voice and raising awareness or highlighting a topic of interest.
We underwent several training sessions at Radio Cardiff and were quickly thrown into the deep end.
